As you probably know already, Google is constantly changing the way they rank websites. These days, it is absolutely critical to get high quality, 1-way links to your website. The more quality links you can get pointing to your website, the higher you will rank, period. Reciprocal linking just isn't anywhere near as effective as it once was. "easiest" ways to get these quality, one way links is by submitting your articles to article directories. By doing so, you can not only get one way links, pretty much instantly, but you can control the anchor text used in your link. AND even better, you can get "in text" links within the body of your article. These are the best types of links you can get!

I've been doing quite a bit of research on "search engine optimization" and while they're many black hat tricks that people are doing to get top rankings in the search engines, they're all very short lived, and their sites eventually lose their rankings. I would focus my entire effort on figuring out how to get other websites to link to yours without you linking back to them. That is the biggest key to ranking well in Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Doing this is easier said that done. One of the easiest known ways to get quality, one way links is by finding website directories and then submitting your website to them. This can be a very tedious process, but always a very rewarding process at the same time.
